Hailey Funnies

Hailey is constantly amazing me and making me laugh. Here are a few of her recent adventures...

Playing playdoh. We made two ponies, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash, but they both have wings, so Hailey made them out of playdoh herself and attached them (left two playdoh creations). Then she decided it was Christmas for them and made them a Christmas tree, stocking and candy cane.
We were playing outside and Hailey decided she was going to twirl around with a blanket on her head and eyes closed. Well my graceful little girl fell and her hand landed on a pine cone. She was much more worried about Ryan trying to get out the two small pieces of pine cone than she was about the pain of actually falling. We're still waiting for it to heal...
"I'm waiting for my eggs to hatch"
My aunt monogrammed a bunch of clothes for Hailey. They are all WAY cute by the way. But Hailey saw this one in the box and immediately asked to put it on. She loves it.
Ryan and Reece were taking a nap on the couch and Hailey didn't want to be left out.
Hailey picked out hats for herself and Reece to wear. We had nowhere to go and it wasn't even sunny, she just wanted them to wear hats. I'm pretty sure Reece is thinking, "Oh boy. It's starting already. This is what I have to look forward to for the rest of my life."
Hailey decided yesterday was "Pony Day" and she decorated for it. I wasn't allowed to touch the decorations because they were glass. (Think she's heard that before?!)
And the kicker...We were playing with her baby dolls the other day. She had put the baby in the high chair and was feeding it with a spoon. Then she turns to me and says, "I can't feed babies. I don't have big round things like you. See?"

I love my girl!
And that was your daily laugh for today...

What We've Been Up To

We're still here! Just when I feel like we're starting to find our new "normal", something changes and we have to readjust. But all in all, I feel like we're getting there.
Here are a few more updated pictures:
We've made it to church the last two Sundays! Ryan leaves for church much earlier than me and and kids (it's still weird to type "kids" instead of just Hailey!) so I'm learning how to get a newborn, very spunky little girl and myself out the door on time. I'm happy to say we've been early both weeks! Of course, that's because Reece didn't want to nurse before we left the house but that's ok...we were still early! I'll take it!
"Look Mommy! He has on a rhino!"

She didn't want to hold him this week
Reece's first real bath. He wasn't really a fan, but is getting better
Our first walk in the double stroller. Hailey LOVED it. She asks to go on walks in the "special stroller" a lot now.
Hailey taking her baby on a walk
On the way to church Hailey said the sun was in her eyes but couldn't find her sunglasses so she wore some of mine.
Reece loves to play with his hair and rub his head. It's really funny. We noticed it in the hospital and so did the nurses. This day, he fell asleep rubbing his head.
Big boy at his doctor's appointment to get reflux medicine. We're praying it starts working SOON. He weighed 10 lbs. 2 oz. He had gained 17 ounces in just 10 days!

Hailey cheesing on our way to church in our new car! We knew we needed to get a new car to replace Ryan's truck that could only seat two people. It was time for a bigger family car. The Lord provided a Nissan Pathfinder for us! It was bigger than we had been looking for, and had less miles. God is good! Clearly Hailey approves. She was thrilled!
That's about it for around here...

Reece- 1 month

It's still hard for me to believe that Reece has been with us for a whole month. It's been a long month in some ways (ahem...sleep) but it's flown in others.
We went to the doctor for his 3 week check-up last week so these stats are a little off now, but just for me...(at 3 weeks and 1 day) he weighs 9 lbs. 1 oz (47%)and is 20 and 3/4 inches long (36%). (At the hospital they measured him at 21 inches, the doctor measured 20.75. He either shrank ;) or someone didn't measure right) His head circumference is 37 cm (75%).
He still nurses about every 2 to 2 and a half hours during the day. Judging by the bottles he's taken, he eats about 3 oz at a time. He takes short naps during the morning, but is pretty alert, takes a long nap around 1:00, which is Hailey's naptime...praise the Lord!... and then wants to sleep all afternoon. We make him stay awake from 5-7 pm, give him a bath or just put lotion on and pajamas. Then he eats one last time before falling asleep around 8:30ish.On a good night he wakes up every 3 or 4 hours, on a bad night it's more like every 2 hours.
Poor little guy has lots of tummy issues with gas. He gets SO uncomfortable at night because of it. We use lots of gas drops around here! Reflux meds may be in his future :(
He loves to have his back patted and "sit" up on your lap. He loves to watch his sister run around and act crazy.
He is wearing 0-3 month and 3 month clothes and a size 1 diaper.
Hailey loves to kiss him, pat his back and ask "Did I do that when I was a baby?" She has her moments of jealousy, she is 3 after all, but she loves him. Whenever she leaves the house and he's not going with her, she will yell "Bye Baby Reece!" as she's walking out the door.

We love you Reece and can't imagine our family without you! Happy 1 month!

Hailey's 3rd birthday...gymnastics style!

This year because Hailey's birthday fell so close to Reece being born we decided not to do a party at our house. I really thought a lot about where to have her party because Hailey is such a fun, energetic little girl. We decided on a gymnastics party at a local gym (Gymcarolina) and it couldn't have been any more perfect for her!
We invited her friends and they all had fun dancing,
 bouncing,

although Hailey says she still doesn't like the foam pit

 parachuting,

and running.

After all the energy was out (ha!) we went upstairs to the party room for cupcakes! Hailey was absolutely thrilled to finally have Happy Birthday sung to her. Look at that precious face!

We were so blessed to have so many friends and family come to celebrate with us. Hailey is a loved little girl!

And in case you were wondering, Reece had the time of his life. ;)

Hailey is Three!

So I'm a few weeks late with this post...such is life lately. Hailey turned three on March 8.
Her birthday breakfast before church. She was so excited that we sang to her again!
She is the spunkiest, funniest, smartest, most caring little girl.
Hailey loves to be outside! Whether it's playing in the yard,

going for a walk,
"exploring" somewhere new,
the circus
going to the farm,

beach, (she's already asking when we're going this year)

or fair.

The girl is up for anything!
She definitely has a mischievous streak and keeps us on our toes.

She LOVES animals and would still prefer to watch anything with animals rather than people, play with stuffed animals over baby dolls, and can tell you specific breeds of dogs, fish and other crazy things you never knew.

Her imagination baffles me everytime. She can usually be found playing make believe with her stuffed animals. She loves to "go to the moon" in her "rocketship"

but is getting into dress-up too.

She loves to do crafts and play with play-doh.
She loves to read and be read to. Our days just wouldn't be complete without reading 1001 books. And I love it!

She is extremely independent!

At three years old she weighs, 30.5 pounds and is 37 inches tall (both right at the 50%). Her favorite foods are cheese, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, chocolate chip mini muffins and any kind of snack food. She still won't drink milk and will only drink water out of her water bottle or Mommy's cup. Hailey is still our early riser, often waking up before 6:00. Naptime has started to be a struggle on some days but most times she still sleeps about 2 hours. Her favorite shows to watch are Curious George, Daniel Tiger and The Lion King movie. She has recently started LOVING My Little Ponies but doesn't like to watch the show. Her favorite day of the week would definitely be Fridays when Daddy is home and takes her on a breakfast date. They go to Chick-Fil-A and to the airport overlook. She still prefers Mommy to put her to bed, but Daddy gets her up in the mornings. It is so exciting to see what new things she will learn and pick up on everyday. She never ceases to amaze me.

Happy Birthday Hailey Grace! Our days wouldn't be nearly as much fun without you! We love you!
