Sick Baby

Well, here's another first...Hailey's first sickness. It's just a cold, but I feel so bad for her! She started being really fussy last week, but I just thought she might be teething. Slowly, she started to develop a cough and stuffy nose. Yesterday was the worst, she was sneezing and coughing all day. A few times, she coughed so much that she gagged herself and spit up. It broke my heart! We went to the doctor yesterday and she said everything looked ok: her ears, throat and lungs, so that's a good thing. Hopefully we're on the mend!

Yesterday morning we went with my friend Jodi to Babies-R-Us to help her plan and prepare for her little one coming in February! Hailey was all smiles and seemed to be feeling better then.

We must've worn her out because later that day we went to the doctor and this is how she looked when we came home. Of course, that was after putting on a cute little show at the doctor's office, not even acting sick! She was smiling, laughing, yelling, blowing bubbles and rolling over for the doctor!

We put Hailey to bed early last night because she was so tired and then I got to make my first batch of baby food! I made sweet potatoes and can't wait for her to feel better and try them.

Holden Beach 2012

After we left Hilton Head on Sunday (Hailey's 4 month "birthday"), we traveled up the coast to Holden Beach, NC. Ryan's family has vacationed there for years and it's a nice, quiet little beach town. Hailey finally got to meet Aunt Kristin (Ryan's sister) for the first time because she lives in the Dominican Republic! We had a great time with family on the beach

Hailey also had her first taste of ice cream while at the beach! (I know, I know, babies aren't supposed to eat ice cream...) We had just finished playing putt putt and we all had ice cream...I'll let you watch the video to see how it happened!

We had a great vacation with both sides of our family, but we were pooped on the way home!

We are already looking forward to next year!

I have the best friends!

I still have the other half of our beach vacation to post about, but first, I have to say I have the best friends! Yesterday, two of my friends, Jackie and Jennifer, drove to Raleigh for a visit! Jackie and I have been best friends since middle school and Jennifer and I have been friends for about 9 years (wow! I didn't realize it had been that long!)

When we lived in Charlotte, Jackie, Jennifer and I, along with Irene would get together once a month for Girls Night. We would each make a dish and all meet for dinner at someone's house. It was so much fun to just spend time talking and laughing together. I have missed it so much since we moved...

Yesterday, Jackie and Jennifer drove up to Raleigh for a Girls Day! (Irene was at the beach :( ) Hailey had a great time visiting and playing with "Aunt Jackie" and "JenJen". It was so refreshing for me to get to see them.

Hilton Head 2012

Over the 4th of July we went to Hilton Head, SC with my family. We had so much fun with Grams, Gramps, Julie, Trey and Tucker! We went to the beach a few days, played in the pool, went out to dinner and just had fun being together.

This was Hailey's first real time on the beach. (When we went on the Singles Beach Retreat in May she only got to put her toes in the sand once because it was so windy) She seemed to really like the beach; there was a lot to look at and she got a few good naps in too! We were in Hilton Head over the 4th of July, so Hailey and Tucker had to sport their red, white and blue, courtesy of Aunt Mitsey!

Wordless Wednesday: My Loves

4 months

Hailey turned 4 months old while we were on vacation. She celebrated in both Hilton Head with my family and Holden Beach with Ryan's family. The highlight of turning 4 months old was finally meeting Aunt Kristin! (Ryan's oldest sister who lives in the Dominican Republic.)

We went for Hailey's 4 month doctor visit when we returned. She weighed 14 pounds 14 ounces (75%), was 23.7 inches long (25%) and her head was 40 centimeters (24%). She had a great time showing the doctor all of her tricks: rolling from back to tummy, pushing up on her hands from her tummy, blowing raspberries, roaring, smiling at new people, looking at the baby in the mirror, standing while held and holding her head up for long periods of time. The doctor even said she was advanced! It made this mommy proud to hear she was doing so well!

She did have to get 2 shots and an oral vaccine which wasn't fun, but with a little mommy cuddling and some singing of "Jesus Loves Me", all was better.

Hailey got to go in the pool for the first time, and stick her toes in the ocean.

Hailey is beginning to enjoy being read to. Right now, her favorite readers are Daddy and Grams.

She started eating rice cereal on vacation and loved it! She got the hang of it right away and thinks it's yummy!
