A Trying Week

It's been a trying week around here...just being honest. Hailey got sick Monday night and Tuesday night throwing up (while Ryan was out of town mind you) Then I got it right before he got home on Wednesday night, and today he came down with it. There's been lots of laundry, lysol and cuddling going on. The cuddling I love, laundry and lysol not so much.

But even in the midst of the sickness there have been a few sweet moments to remember:

Yesterday Hailey and Abbie were playing in her playroom and all of a sudden Hailey gets a book and says "Read Aps. (That's what she calls Abbie, her own little nickname) Look Aps. God made colors." It absolutely melted my heart!
See the laundry basket in the background... ;)
Ryan brought Hailey back some maracas from the Dominican Republic, which she LOVES and is constantly shaking. It's precious. But what was really sweet was that his sister's coworkers sent a shirt home for Hailey (and a magnet for me and Ryan). Hailey tried it on today and wouldn't take it off. See her cheesy smile?!

Today Hailey and I had to run to a friend's house, who we were supposed to have dinner with tonight with a group of people. Well I had already bought the salsa and didn't really need it sitting in my house so we ran it over. This was the sweetness in my backseat
Don't you love the upside down sunglasses?! She wears them like that every.single.time. After we ran our errands we made a quick stop at the park so as to not completely miss this amazing weather we're having.

Even in the trying times I love how God gives us sweet moments to remember. But here's to hoping this next week bring wellness to our home. ;)

Weekend at Grams and Das'

Since Ryan was out of town in the warm, sunny Dominican, Hailey and I went to Charlotte! We waited until noon on Friday to make sure the ice was melted and the roads were safe and we were off! I only have a few random pictures from the weekend because we were super busy. We made some things for Hailey's 2nd Birthday party and I learned how to make ruffle pants for Hailey. Here's what I've got:

We went to Old Navy and Hailey was obsessed with this dog mannequin. Like wouldn't leave it obsessed... had to pick her up and carry her away obsessed...had to give the dog a kiss goodbye obsessed...

One night I was getting Hailey ready for her bath and she started running around saying "Nakey baby come here"...when did she start to look like a little girl instead of my baby?

How to keep Hailey and Tucker contained outside...put them in the back of Das' truck. Just kidding. But they had a blast back there for like 15 minutes!

Hailey loved playing in the cabinet under the TV. She would hide toys in them, play peek a boo, and try to crawl in them

Das took Hailey on an escalator ride, or two, before we left church on Sunday. Hailey was so excited. She was waving the whole way down. It's the little things.

Monday before we left to come back to Raleigh I got Hailey dressed but she kept saying her sock was "hurting you". So I took it off to see if anything was inside it and she wouldn't let me put it back on! She rocked one sock for most of the morning.

We had a great weekend in Charlotte! I am so thankful we live close enough to family to make a weekend trip!

Snow!

Little did we know we were going to get about 5 inches of snow with ice on top! Enough to shut things down for a few days here in Raleigh. It started snowing at about 11:30 on Wednesday afternoon and by noon when Ryan got home the roads were already terrible. We have friends that were stuck in traffic trying to get home for hours! I was so thankful that I had my little family all together.

The snow piled up quickly. By 4:00 that afternoon we already had about 3 inches. We took Hailey out but she didn't really enjoy it. It was so powdery she had a hard time walking and it was still snowing hard and hitting her in the face.

The next morning we had about 5 inches of snow with a thick layer of ice on top. That's a lot for here!

We started the morning with chocolate chip pancakes made by Daddy.

Someone was sneaking chocolate chips!

Hailey had more fun playing in it then and we tried sledding again. It worked much better in a clothes basket! (We totally need to buy a sled so we don't look so silly next time but I wasn't about to let my baby miss out on sledding!)

She had much more fun than last time! She just laughed the whole way and then said "more. more'"

We only stayed out about 20 minutes in the morning. Ryan went back out that afternoon to shovel the driveway and Hailey wanted to go back out too. I enjoyed watching my loves from inside this time! I love watching them together. It is absolutely precious.

Ryan taught her to make a snow angel

And then Hailey's dream came true...they made "Frosty"!

Crazy thing was that Ryan was supposed to fly out that day to go to the Dominican to visit his sister. Obviously with the weather that didn't happen and I am so glad we got a snow day together.

Library Visit

Hailey has been asking for a few weeks to go back to the library so last Wednesday we finally went. Hailey loves looking at all of the books but this particular day she was super interested in the Curious George books.

Abbie needed a book to read too

Our visits never last long but I love that Hailey loves books. I'm sure our visits will become more frequent. Our library trip was exciting, but even more exciting was that it started snowing on the way home!

standing in the falling snow (that you can't really see)
The weather forecasters said we were in for a real snow storm but we didn't really believe them. Little did we know...

Growing Up

It's been crazy around here lately. I know I say that a lot but it really has. We've been going non-stop for the past 2 weeks with not much slow down in sight. I guess I need to learn to blog even in the busyness, huh?

Anyways, last week Hailey almost climbed out of her crib so this happened
I thought we were going to have some nighttime craziness on our hands but she has done SO well. We told her that she needed to stay in her bed until Mommy or Daddy came and got her and she has! When we put her down for a nap or at night she always says "stay Mommy Daddy get you." So big!

This one is just precious of her...

Hailey gave Abbie a ride in the walker one day while I was trying to make lunch. They both had a ball!

And she wanted to help me feed Abbie lunch. (Don't worry there was nothing on the spoon and I made sure she was super careful.) Abbie thought it was hilarious.

Sharing our muffin batter with Hippy

And Mickey had to help us with the laundry. Hailey loves to help me push the button to start the dryer and put the soap in the washer and this particular day she felt like Mickey needed to get in on the action too.

My little baby is getting so big and helpful. Her 2nd birthday is only a few weeks away! Crazy!

Catch-up

So I mentioned in the last post that Hailey was sick...well I feel like we're finally recovering from it, a week later. Boo... :( It just seemed to stick around forever! Plus it looks like she had some sort of reaction to the antibiotic they put her on so she got a terrible looking rash for several days too. I felt so terrible for her! She spent the first part of this week doing a lot of this:
Poor thing slept on the couch for 4 hours on Monday! I kept thinking I should move her to her bed, but then I figured she would wake up soon so I didn't want to bother her...4 hours and a lot of cuddling later she woke up. It was a nice break for Mommy too!

Tuesday I started to see some of her normal personality returning, you know, lots of climbing. ;)
And she had to feed those babies
Look how long her hair is!
Wednesday I finally felt like she was herself again. Isn't this the sweetest picture?! I know it's blurry but I had to catch a sweet moment between her and Abbie. They really love each other. Hailey asks every morning if Abbie is coming and gets SO excited when Mr. David brings her to the door. I absolutely love it! Such an answer to prayer.
And yes Hailey's socks totally don't match her outfit but when your sick, well...getting better, little girl tells you that she wants Cookie socks, you say ok. ;)
This one make me laugh this week too. Abbie was so intent on reaching for Hailey's snack as I helped her stand up. Hailey...she couldn't care less, she was engrossed in Daniel Tiger.
Friday afternoon Ryan brought Hailey and I flowers! I got pink roses and he brought Hailey bright-colored daises. She LOVED them! They are in a vase on our kitchen table and Hailey loves to climb on the chairs and say "Daddy flowers Hailey. Beautiful." I love how Ryan thinks of special things to do for Hailey and I.

And when naptime is a bust and it's not freezing outside what do you do? Load up for a walk in the stroller with your sunglasses and a lollipop of course!

And I knew my sweet girl was feeling like herself when she wanted to dress up like Minnie Mouse that afternoon and refused to change, even if we had friends coming over for dinner. Oh well, she looks cute helping me cook, right?!

"Mixa, Mixa, Mixa!"

Shew! It's no fun having a sick little girl but I sure love seeing her return to her normal, playful, giggly, independent self!

Picture Dump

While none of these pictures demand their own post, they need to be shared nonetheless ;)

Hailey was watching Daniel Tiger (her absolute favorite show on PBS) the other day and they were having a dress up day. I thought it was the perfect day to give Hailey her princess dress. She put it on and immediately said "dance" and started twirling. We have had many twirls in this dress since...

We were putting away some winter decorations under our stairwell last week and Hailey climbed right in there with them when we weren't looking. I called for her and all I heard in response was giggling. I followed the giggles and this is what I saw. She said "Close door." So I did and then I hear, "Where is she?" followed by more giggles. She played in there for a good 20 minutes. We turned on a flashlight so she wasn't in complete darkness. At one point when we checked on her, only to be told "close door" she had the box of Christmas ornaments open!

Accessorizing for the day

Needs no caption except LOVE...do you see her necklace and matching bracelet that she picked out to wear?

During the later part of the week Hailey developed a nasty cold and started running a fever. I took her to the doctor on Friday and she insisted on bringing her own purse and putting a few toys in it. She was SO excited to go to the doctor because she's been watching Daniel Tiger (show on PBS) and the episode where he goes to the doctor over and over and over. Poor thing was so excited on the way there and at the doctor that she fell asleep on the way home.

She was so proud of her Elmo sticker. She was upset when she had to take off her shirt for her bath that night and has asked for it every day since. Don't her little eyes look pitiful?

It turned out that she had fluid in her ears and a nasty cold. They gave her amoxicillin (the bubble gum medicine) and she HATED it, like gagged and threw up everytime she had to take it. I tried everything; getting it reflavored, giving it in yogurt, mixed in with juice. Nothing worked. So back to the doctor we went today (Sunday).

She definitely has fluid in her ears, but they are not infected therefore she doesn't need the antibiotic yet. So we don't have to take it. And as excited as she was to go on Friday, she was not too happy to see the doctor today. There were lots of tears and clinging.
If she's still running a fever on Wednesday then we have to get her ears rechecked. Shew! Sick babies are no fun! We've had lots of cuddle and down time this weekend, unfortunately not much sleeping time :( Hopefully this cold and ear/fever stuff will clear up soon. I'm ready to have my happy little girl back.
