God is Bigger Than the...

Hailey is really into to watching "scary" shows right now. Well, shows where the character gets scared. There is one episode of Curious George that we watch over and over and over where he gets scared in the basement. One day last week Ryan showed Hailey the Veggie Tales movie "Where is God When I'm Scared?" In it they sing the song "God is Bigger Than the Boogie Man". A few days later, and a few dozen times after watching it, Hailey asked us to sing the "poopy man" song. We laughed and had no idea what she meant. She said, "God bigger poopy man". HA! She wanted us to sing the Veggie Tales song about the boogie man.

We now affectionately sing that "God is bigger than the poopy man".

Love my girl!

Week in Pictures

This week seemed really busy to me. I'm not really sure why, we only had one really busy day but whatever...
Monday we ran a few errands. We went to Target to pick up a few things and I let Hailey play in the toy aisles because she was so patient while I got what I needed. I was so impressed that when I told her it was time to leave she didn't whine or cry, she just let me put her right back in the cart. Small steps.
She had the best time with this hula hoop!
She also built her tallest tower to date. Seven blocks high, without any help!

Tuesday was our last Bible Study for the Spring. I really enjoyed studying the attributes of God this year and saw each of them in a new way as we studied.
We got a last minute invite to go to a local indoor playground area called PlayNation Tuesday afternoon. Hailey had a blast! They sell swing sets so they had several set up inside with slides a bounce house and a few play houses. Can you guess where Hailey spent a lot of time? The play house of course! We also went down the blow up slide together. You know the giant ones they have at festivals and such...yep, that one. This mama climbed up and slid down many many times.

She was excited about this "telescope".
Wednesday we hung around here but I had pulled out some Easter stuff and we played egg hunt a few times. Silly girl decided to carry her basket like this.
Thursday Hailey got some new tennis shoes in the mail and after trying them on, this is how the box was used.
Yep, I went into the kitchen to put on some pasta and come back to hear a muffled, "Where is she?" Crazy girl was hiding, up on the ottoman! Life is never dull, I tell ya.

Friday we played doctor with Mr. Hightops,
and I got to paint these sweet toe nails for the first time! I had been telling Hailey we could do it because she was interested in my pink toes. We were going to do it one night when Daddy was gone but waited until today instead. She loved it! All day she kept looking at them saying "pretty toes mommy"

With all of this fun, who knows what next week with hold!

Sunday

This Sunday I left Hailey wear a real necklace to church for the first time. I've had a cute silver one for her since last year but haven't let her wear it yet because I was afraid she would eat it or take it off. But every week when I put on my jewelry she wants some time so I decided today was the day. I let her wear it all morning at home just to make sure she wouldn't try to take it off before I even got her dressed.
She was so excited to wear a necklace like Mommy. Too bad she wasn't into picture taking this morning. I really wanted a picture of her in her new dress from Mimi.

But she had fun giving Daniel Tiger a "treat"
When we got to church we went to Daddy's office like normal because we have to say hi to the rhinos. (book ends that Ryan has on his desk) Hailey decided that today was a good time to try out the desk chair. She kept saying she was "working"

After lunch we went to lunch at the mall with friends and Hailey had a complete melt-down. Not fun. She was exhausted and only wanted to walk around and play. So we went into Stride Rite because I needed to have her foot measured anyways. She found these Christmas necklaces that were on clearance and wore them around the store forever until I made her take them off so we could leave. Girly girl loves her necklaces.
Sigh...one day we'll be able to eat out again, right? Oh well, until then I'll be thankful for my full-of-energy, spunky little girl!

Weekend at the Beach

This weekend we had a mini-vacation at the beach. We went with friends and had the best time! It wasn't that we did anything spectacular...we just had fun with friends, went somewhere out of the norm and spent time together.
We left Thursday night at bedtime so we got there late and didn't do anything that night. Friday it was pretty chilly and windy but we still got outside as much as we could. We went on some walks, ate lunch at a restaurant on the water, had a really yummy dinner and just hung out....obviously I didn't take any pictures. oops!
But Saturday morning it was perfect! It was pretty warm and hardly any wind so we hit the beach!
Hailey didn't like the sand at first and didn't want to walk on it because it had "holes". But when she saw Ryan walking in the water she quickly changed her mind!
She didn't last long on this towel!

She loved the water...and it was FREEZING! We rolled her pants up and they still got wet! She probably would've walked all the way in if we would've let her. Crazy girl! She loved picking up shells and seeing the bubbles from the water.
She also liked chasing the seagulls, although she called them "eages". Ha! She kept saying "Here eagles! Come here eagles!" and making the kissy noise to get them to come. Hilarious!

This girl loved the beach and sand! She just loved walking and running anywhere she wanted. She picked up a thousand seashells and asked "what's that?" about a hundred times. We told her that Mimi would be able to tell her anything she wanted to know about the beach when we went with them in May! Be ready Mimi!

I love them!
We headed home after lunch on Saturday. It was a quick trip but a much needed one! Check out this exhausted little girl on the way home...she fell asleep not even 5 minutes after we left.
We had a blast and can't wait for the next weekend away! We are so thankful for friends here in Raleigh!

Very Sad

Hailey: "Play outside Mommy?"
Me: "No sweetie, it's too cold and wet today."
Hailey: (pouting) "Very sad."

Me too, Hailey, me too...

Spring, are you coming anytime soon? I have a little girl who really wants to play outside.

Spring, Please Come Soon!

We had a great week with several warm days! It was so nice to get outside and play!

I'd seen the idea on Pinterest to create a tub of corn meal, rather than sand, to let kids play in so I thought we would give it a shot. Hailey loved it! She kept calling it her "sand box". She loved scooping it, "cutting" it, putting it through her sifter and letting me hide toys in it for her to find. We've already played with it since too! That's a win in my book!

Silly girl insisted on wearing her hat outside. Too funny

We also took lots of walks in the warm weather. George needed to come on this particular one and wanted to ride on Hailey's shoulders, like she does with Ryan.
"George ride shulners"
These girls looked so cute before Bible Study on Tuesday morning I couldn't help but take a picture. They are so precious. I am so thankful that I get to care for Abbie and that Hailey loves her!
As the weather got colder towards the end of the week, we did inside activities again. A new favorite is dressing up...Hailey is Rapunzel and she wanted Abbie to be a spider. They have both enjoyed playing in this princess castle lately.
We even cleaned the bathrooms one day! I was cleaning the shower and Hailey wanted to help. Who am I to decline help?! (Don't worry...I gave her a baby wipe) After about 2 swipes with her baby wipe all she wanted to do was play in the shower. Oh well, at least it kept her entertained for a few minutes, right?!

We had Hailey's two year well-check at the doctor this week too. She did awesome. Here she is after her finger prick. She didn't even cry! She was pretty fascinated with her doggie band aid too. She kept asking for a sticker because she knows that she gets one when we leave so the sweet nurse went and got her one after the finger prick. The doctor said she's doing great. She was amazed by her speech and vocabulary and can tell she has lots of energy. I wouldn't want it any other way!
And lastly, my baby decided she doesn't want to eat in a high chair anymore. We were just using it as a booster seat anyways but this week she kept wanting to eat in a regular chair so we let her to see if she would stay seated and eat and she has. I didn't think we'd lose the booster for a while but I guess she's too big...tear...
This was the morning she talked Daddy into Chick-Fil-A for breakfast
We had a great week and enjoyed the warm days. Spring, please come soon...to stay!

Birthday Girl Pics

Before Hailey's party Mary Katherine, my sister, tried to get a few pictures of the grandkids (Tucker, Hailey and Mack)
Didn't quite work...Someone was always not looking

At least they know how to ham it up!

We tried for a few pics of just Hailey too...

At least I got one good one!
We even tried a few pics outside...Someone was just not in a picture taking mood. Hey, it's her birthday. She can do what she wants, right?!

And all this little girl wanted to do was throw rocks and run around.

I love my birthday girl! (even if we can't get any cute pictures...)
